Bank Holiday weekend fuel price war
A Bank Holiday weekend fuel price war has started in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK as petrol and diesel prices were cut further as the competition between supermarkets heats up.
Northern Ireland motorists will welcome the news, as they traditionally pay more for fuel that their UK counterparts, however, the cost of fuel is still higher than the start of 2013.
A stronger currency and a fall in wholesale costs are the main reasons for the latest price cuts, according to the AA, but they warned that lower prices may not be here for good.

A petrol price war has emerged on the forecourts of Britain after Sainsburys, the giant supermarket chain, slashed its prices by knocking off 4p per litre from Thursday. Tesco and another supermarket chain Asda, quickly followed suit, as is customary in the race to get motorists to fill up at its petrol stations.

Across Britain the growing trend of using heating oil, stored in small tanks outside homes, has been growing significantly since the energy companies sent our bills soaring over the last decade. It works out a far cheaper option to heat a home using heating oil, stored often in a back garden or outhouse shed, particularly if used for heating a large country home.
However, the growing trend to use heating oil has led to a marked increase in fuel tanks and heating oil tanks being siphoned by thieves, often in the middle of the night.
